Code of Conduct

Introduction

Online communities are a powerful tool for communication, education, and community-building. They foster connections, enable exchange of insights, and create a supportive space for individuals with shared experiences.

For the Ambassador community, this site provides opportunities to support NEA’s mission and build connections with eczema community members, through peer support, knowledge-sharing, and empowerment. To maintain a safe, respectful, supportive and professional environment, all participants must adhere to this Code of Conduct. Failure to adhere to it may result in immediate suspension or termination of an individual’s NEA Ambassadorship.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all online and in-person events, discussions, and activities involving NEA Ambassadors.

Code of Conduct

1. Respectful Interaction

  • Engage with all members in a considerate, respectful, and collaborative manner.
  • Treat all Ambassadors and contacts accessed through Ambassador opportunities professionally and courteously.
  • Respect differing experiences, ideas, and perspectives without judgment or criticism.

2. Ethical and Responsible Communication

  • Do not provide medical advice. The Ambassadors site is designed to provide Ambassadors access to opportunities that support NEA’s mission and help Ambassadors connect with each other. It is not intended for medical guidance.
  • Do not share misinformation or unverified claims regarding eczema treatments, products, or health-related topics.
  • No harassment, discrimination, hate speech, or personal attacks will be tolerated.
  • Use inclusive language and be mindful of diverse backgrounds.

3. Professional Boundaries and Community Etiquette

  • Respect personal boundaries. Do not engage in repeated or unsolicited outreach, especially if someone is unresponsive or disengaged.
  • Use designated channels (e.g. via activity feeds, timelines, discussion boards, direct messages or shared emails), rather than personal outreach unless the individual has clearly consented to be contacted directly.
  • Only contact external individuals (non-Ambassadors) you connect with through Ambassador opportunities for purposes related to your Ambassador role. This does not apply to peer-to-peer connections with fellow Ambassadors.

4. Privacy and Confidentiality

  • Do not share sensitive or private health information you do not wish to be public.
  • Respect the privacy of fellow Ambassadors—do not share their personal stories, images, or information outside the community.

5. No Commercial Promotion or Solicitation

  • Use this site to share Ambassador experiences and support fellow Ambassadors.
  • No commercial promotions, solicitations, or self-promotion—this includes personal projects, businesses, products, services, or events unrelated to NEA.
  • Do not advertise or recruit for external organizations, campaigns, or causes.
  • Do not claim to speak on behalf of NEA or represent the eczema community beyond your personal experience.
  • All content should align with NEA’s mission and values.
    • NEA’s Mission: To improve the health and quality of life for people affected by eczema, and empower those who advocate, support and deliver care.
    • NEA’s Values:
      • Patient-Centered. We’re grounded in the lived experiences of people with eczema and their caregivers. We turn your insights into action, shaping resources and initiatives that make daily life better.
      • Truth-Seeking. We’re guided by science, evidence and reason to deepen understanding of eczema and the community it impacts, continually driving learning and progress.
      • Accountable. We operate with integrity, honesty and transparency, building trust through credibility and responsibility in every action.

6. Brand Representation and Logo Use

As a NEA Ambassador, you may reference your role publicly. However, all use of NEA branding must be accurate, respectful, and aligned with NEA’s mission and values.

Use of NEA Ambassador Logo

  • Ambassadors may use the official NEA Ambassador logo on personal social media profiles to identify their participation in the program.
  • The logo may only be used in its approved form and may not be altered, recolored, distorted, or combined with other graphics.
  • The logo is intended solely to indicate your role as an NEA Ambassador—not to imply endorsement of personal opinions, products, services, or external organizations.

Social Media Guidelines

  • You may share your personal experiences with eczema and your involvement with NEA.
  • When referencing NEA or your Ambassador role, clearly distinguish personal opinions from official NEA positions.
  • Do not present yourself as an official spokesperson for NEA.
  • Do not use the NEA name or logo in a way that suggests partnership, sponsorship, or endorsement without explicit permission.

Content Alignment

  • Public content that references NEA should reflect the organization’s mission and values.
  • Avoid sharing content that could undermine NEA’s credibility, including misinformation, unverified claims, or inflammatory commentary while representing your Ambassador role.

Prohibited Conduct

To maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment, the following behaviors are strictly prohibited:

  • Misuse of your role, affiliation, or access to staff, partners (contacts accessed through opportunities), or community members for purposes unrelated to your ambassador responsibilities, including personal, professional, or financial gain.
  • Harassment, discrimination, hate speech, or bullying of any kind.
  • Defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal content.
  • Spamming, trolling, or disruptive behavior.
  • Sharing inappropriate, graphic, or explicit materials.
  • Using the NEA name, logo, or Ambassador affiliation to promote or sell products, services, or personal ventures.
  • Associating NEA branding with fundraising, campaigns, or events that are not officially approved by NEA.
  • Modifying or recreating NEA logos or branded assets.
  • Using NEA branding in any misleading, inappropriate, or harmful context.

Consequences of Violating the Code of Conduct

NEA will take appropriate action, which may include:

  • Content removal.
  • A warning or temporary suspension.
  • Permanent termination from the Ambassador Program.

NEA reserves the right to determine the appropriate response based on the severity of the violation.
